Millennium Development Goals

At the close of the 20th century, governments around the world agreed on a set of common goals for developing countries, known as the Millennium Development Goals. These goals pave the way forward, from this moment to the year 2015, to cut world poverty by half. With the accomplishment of these goals, billions more people can benefit from the global economy. Tens of millions of lives can be saved.

Cambodia has taken these goals and adapted them to meet the specific development needs of the Cambodian people.

For Cambodia the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are more than aspirations and shared global objectives. The government’s mission is to build, along with United Nations support, a Cambodian society that is socially cohesive, educationally advanced, culturally vibrant and free from hunger, inequality, exclusion and vulnerability. In order to realize this vision, all efforts are being made to achieve the CMDGs. They have become the pillars of national progress towards peace and prosperity for all Cambodians.
