IFA has three components: Knowledge Generation, Knowledge Sharing and Knowledge into Action.

• Knowledge Generation focuses on practical research in priority areas identified by the Government, development partners and other stakeholders.


• Knowledge Sharing involves a wide range of activities including conferences, media briefings, website development and publication of research findings.


• Knowledge into Action includes capacity development and follow-up policy dialogue with Government officials, National Assembly members, civil society organisations, development partners and university students.

IFA works mainly in the areas of economic governance, extractive industries and human development, as well as in emerging areas. IFA focuses on supporting the Government’s implementation of the NSDP and Rectangular Strategy to achieve the CMDGs.
