Spain contributes US$756,340 to mine clearance for poverty reduction
In 2008, Spain will contribute US$756,340 to Clearing for Results: A partnership for landmine action in Cambodia. This is the second part of a contribution of over US$1.2 million. The contribution demonstrates a firm commitment to working in partnership with other donors to ensure harmonization.
Clearing for Results brings together donors who believe that mine
action is an integral component of poverty reduction in Cambodia,
including UNDP, Australia and Canada. The project focuses on mine
clearance that is in line with local development priorities. More than
70,000 people have benefitted from the project by using the cleared
land for agriculture, housing, roads, and schools.
