UNDP brings indigenous people radio experiences from Laos to Cambodia

Ratanakiri – Since 2007, the Jarai indigenous people have been enjoying a radio programme in their own language, which helps to inform them about news concerning their community and beyond. But the problem is it is too short. Its daily broadcast hours should be extended.

Phnom Penh - From January 15, a new multimedia campaign called Loy9 will launch on television, radio and online. Aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 24 across Cambodia, the media programmes combine entertainment and education to inform about opportunities to participate in civic life.

Phnom Penh – The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) together with the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD), with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and the UN Capital Development Fund, convened a national workshop on micro-insurance and social protection on Dec. 13. The event was opened by H.E. Ou Bunlong, Secretary of State, Ministry of Economy and Finance. H.E. Ngy Chanphal, Secretary of State, Ministry of Interior, and Vice-Chair of the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development delivered a keynote speech. The workshop was attended by over 60 representatives of the micro-finance sector, private sector, non-governmental organisations, government bodies and development partners.

Cambodia urged to invest more in women and girls

Phnom Penh – While giving high prominence to gender equality in policy agenda, Cambodia continues to face challenges of lower retention of girls in school and high proportion of women engaged in the informal sector (82 percent of labour force) and much less in high-pay occupations, UNDP Cambodia’s Country Director Elena Tischenko said Thursday.
