Donating blood can save lives and voluntary blood donations are crucial in providing blood to patients in emergencies. UN Volunteers in Cambodia is supporting the national Blood Donation Campaign, a joint initiative of Loy9 programme and National Blood Transfusion Center (NBTC). Loy9 is an entertaining and inspiring mass media campaign, which features important societal issues and young Cambodians, who have stories to tell about how they are involved in their communities. On June 9th Loy9 starts its Big Challenge: blood donation campaign, which will be held in 9 locations over 9 days and should mobilize 999 donors to give blood.

Youth leaders from Brunei Darussalam, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam issued a common statement on behalf of the youth in ASEAN calling for a better life and opportunities in their countries and in their region. The document is divided into three parts: Our mind, Our heart and Our body, and talks about the most urgent needs and challenges that youth in ASEAN faces today.

ASEAN Youth Volunteering Programme is recruiting a 100 youth volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30 who are driven and motivated to help conserve and protect ASEAN region from the over-exploitation of natural resources and climate change.
Volunteers will get an opportunity to spent 5 weeks in Malaysia strengthening their leadership skills in environmental conservation across the ASEAN region and working with local communities. The deadline for applications is May 31st.
